Beth Scharding - Member Spotlight

Hey Beth, where are you from?

I grew up in North Shelby County. My husband and I moved to Helena three years ago after falling in love with the community.

What do you do?

I am a fifth grade teacher in the Shelby County school district.

Tell us about your family.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Scott, for four years. We currently have two dogs named Barnabas and Belle. We joke that they are our “fur babies”.

What do you truly love?

I love to cook! I read cookbooks like they are novels. I also enjoy going to UAB basketball games and spending time outdoors.

When did you discover a love for Jesus in your heart?

I was a freshman in high school when fellow classmates invited me to a youth group function at their church. It was at this youth event where I first felt the desire to grow in a relationship with Christ.

Tell us of a time when you've been overwhelmed by God's grace or work in your life.

It is difficult to describe one specific event where I was overwhelmed with God’s grace and provision for me. It is amazing to realize that the God of heaven and earth desires a relationship with me, a sinner, and wants to work through me. What a blessing to have a loving Father that creates beauty from ashes!

What do you enjoy or value about Christ Community Church?

I value the emphasis on community. CCC is a place where I can be encouraged and held accountable.
